BAM’s success is built on the foundation of boreal bird data. Since 2004, BAM has been collating avian data from across the Canadian and the United States boreal and hemi-boreal regions, and we developed specialized statistical approaches to harmonize these data to create the BAM database. Through collaboration, this database has been used to develop various data products and resources ranging from national scale density and population estimates for landbird and waterfowl species, to derived products such as multi-objective land use planning tools, critical habitat identification, and future habitat potential. Our science and data products have been used to guide policy, planning and delivery of management and conservation efforts to ensure that boreal bird populations are conserved into the future.
